PayPal
We have chosen
PayPal as our main mechanism for on-line payments. This service
is free to the buyer. See
http://www.PayPal.com for details on signing up. It offers
you the ability to pay by ATM, Check, or credit card. They offer
a completely secure web site on which to conduct your
transaction. And it will be convenient for you to use on other
on-line sites and E-Bay.
We
are in the process of installing PayPal options throughout the
site.
New Arrivals
As it
stands now, the "New Arrivals" section is set up for
PayPal. Just
click on the "New Arrivals" button and a list of the latest
titles will appear. Click on the check box for each title you'd
like and then click on "Confirm" at the bottom of the page. This
will display a listing of your purchase. To pay by PayPal, just
click on the item. If you'd rather pay in another form, click on
the "Reserve" button to create an e-mail to The Book Orphanage.
Then send us the details.
Advanced
Purchases
To order books
in advance of a signing or to get a personalized copy, send an
e-mail with your name and address (to where the book is to be
shipped) and the way you'd like it signed. We'll send your a
link to use PayPal for that particular purchase. The purchase
must be made prior to the "due date" for the signing (see the
newsletter for details). Subscribing to the newsletter is the
only way to know about signings in advance.
Prime Product Sampling
Also, the
"Prime Product Sampling" is set up for PayPal. Just click on the
"PayPal" icon and you're set.
Other Product Offerings
For orders
from the catalog, other products offer, Multiple copies of a
particular title, a mix of PayPal and non-PayPay items, or for
dealer discounts, just send us an E-mail. Once we get everything
clear, we'll send you a link to use PayPal for that order.
Other Payment Options
If you would
rather use another form of payment other than PayPal, The Book
Orphanage also accepts Checks, Money Orders or Credit Cards
(MasterCard, Visa and American Express). We don't have a secure
web site so if you want to pay by credit card, you should call
or fax your payment information. You should first get a
confirmation on your order.
Please identify the book(s)
(or products) you want
as uniquely as possible via
e-email to confirm it’s availability. Orders submitted without
confirmation will run the risk of your order becoming delayed or
tying up your payment for a period of time.
Prices are subject to change without notice. The current prices
are those on the currently posted lists on the web page. Those
lists will be dated from time to time. Confirmation of availability is conditional
on payment type, where the books are to be shipped and an agreed
upon date to clear. Orders shipped to addresses within the State
of California will require an additional 7.75% sales tax.
Shipping and Handling charges are $5.50 for the first book and
$2.50 for each additional book, up to 4 books per package for
shipments within the 50 states (the fifth book is packaged in a
second box and the rates start over at $5.50). Large format
books of 550 pages or more, count as two books for shipping
purposes The cost of international shipments will be provided
with the confirmation.
Confirmation consists of the
following:
The Book Orphanage verifies that the requested
product(s) is/are
available.
A price, including tax (if any), shipping and
handling is provided.
A date until the order will be held until the payment is made.
*The Book Orphanage does not deliver COD nor accept
“lay-a-ways” or other “time” payments.
Once a confirmation is made, the item is placed on hold and
subsequent inquires are placed on a wailing list on a first
come, first served basis. You may e-mail, phone or fax for a
confirmation.
Once confirmed, payment will be accepted in the form of Check,
Money Order or Credit Card (MasterCard, Visa or American
Express). At this time, we do not have a “secure” web site. You
may choose to provide credit card information by phone or fax.
If you choose to use e-mail, you may send part of the card
number in one e-mail and part in a subsequent e-mail. The other
card information can be sent on either or a third e-mail (This
is NOT recommended, but some customers do this and have not
reported a problem. However, it makes me uncomfortable and is
one reason why we are moving to PayPal).
